International Office Deventer

As of 2018, one of the Netherlands’ oldest (trading) cities, Deventer, is still going strong after 1250 years. In the 9th century, the city was already an important economic and religious centre in the Netherlands. In the 14th and 15th centuries, Deventer was a Hanseatic city and developed into one of Europe’s most important centres of trade and knowledge.

Entrepreneurial spirit and international exchange of knowledge and goods is part of Deventer’s DNA. This is reflected in the International Office Deventer, which was founded by representatives of volunteer organisations, cultural and educational institutions, businesses and the government in 2015.

By exchanging contacts, initiating and connecting activities, as well as projects and expertise, the partners involved are creating synergy. Together, they are bringing the international power of Deventer to the world’s attention. They are also contributing to international collaborations and developments by offering a helping hand in developing countries, international business, creative exchange with other cultures, and the involvement of Deventer’s students as future world citizens.

This collaboration has led to good results both in Deventer and in countries with which Deventer has been working and trading over the past two years. Our international initiatives have a stronger economic component now, and this international dimension has created new opportunities for Deventer’s economy. These synergy-related benefits stress the importance of the International Office Deventer. And, we are proud of that!

Ambassadors and members of the International Office Deventer communicate with each other and with their teams, create mutual connections, exchange information and data, do business and expand their networks. Would you like to become part of the International Office Deventer or do you have any questions or ideas? Please don’t hesitate to contact us.
